Tennis Fans Flock To Indian Wells
The BNP Paribas Open, the first of nine ATP World Tour Masters 1000 events, showcases the best men's and women's players at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. In 2009, the Coachella Valley welcomed a record 332,498 people to the 12-day tournament, eclipsing the mark set the previous year when it became the first tournament outside of the Grand Slams to pass the 300,000 mark.

Nadal Eyes Third Title In Desert
Rafael Nadal recaptured the BNP Paribas Open title after posting an overwhelming 6-1, 6-2 victory over Andy Murray in Indian Wells last year. Nadal has won 15 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titles, placing him just one behind Roger Federer and two behind all-time leader Andre Agassi.
World No. 1 Roger Federer has a 29-6 tournament record, winning three titles in 2004 (d. Henman), 2005 (d. Hewitt) and 2006 (d. Blake).
Novak Djokovic finished runner-up to Rafael Nadal in 2007 and beat Mardy Fish for the 2008 title. He has a 14-3 tournament record.
In 2009, World No. 3 Andy Murray joined Tim Henman (2002, 2004) and Greg Rusedski (1998) as British runners-up at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event.
